It's not uncommon for lots of users to use weak passwords since they are much easier to remember or to use scripts, templates and plugins that aren't updated for a long period of time. It limits the access which a script has just to its own folder, so in case one of your websites is compromised, the attacker will see its content, but will not be able to view any other content inside your account, therefore the damage will be minimal. Needless to say, using JailHost does not substitute the security measures you need to take by keeping your scripts up-to-date and using long and complex passwords, yet it'll enable you to restrict the damage to one site only.
JailHost in Shared Hosting
If you host your websites inside a shared hosting account from our company, you can protect them using the JailHost option with just a few mouse clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This option is available with all packages and can be enabled for each folder since the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have separate folders, so files for many different sites never get mixed up as it frequently happens with other Control Panels. We haven't activated JailHost by default because you could use scripts that require access to folders outside the primary website folder and this option may interfere with their proper operation, but shielding all other folders is very easy. If any secured website gets hacked for some reason, we will be able to recover it very quickly since we'll have multiple daily backup copies of your entire account and you will even be able to browse the available backups through Hepsia.
JailHost in Semi-dedicated Hosting
JailHost is provided with all of our semi-dedicated hosting packages, so in case you host several different sites, you'll be able to isolate them from each other in order to keep them safe. This feature should be activated for each and every Internet site and is not turned on by default, to avoid interference with scripts that need access to multiple folders inside the account. Enabling it for all other domains will take no more than a couple of clicks in the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel. Unlike other Control Panels, Hepsia doesn't place different websites under the main domain folder. Instead, each domain or subdomain has its very own folder, which makes it much simpler to take care of and secure all your Internet sites. In case that a site within your account is hacked, not only will your other websites remain untouched, but we'll also be able to recover the damaged Internet site very quickly because we will have multiple backups of your whole content.
